• Chop the meat into large cubes, grate the carrots and beets, cut the onion into strips. Pour vegetable oil into the inner bowl of your multicooker.
• Press the "MENU" button, select the "FRY" function (default cooking time is 15 minutes). Press the COOKING TIME button, then use the + and - buttons to set the cooking time to 30 minutes.
• Press the START button.
• Allow the oil to heat well for 2-3 minutes so that the crust begins to appear on the meat immediately. Add the meat and, stirring occasionally, continue to cook for 10 minutes. Add onions, carrots and sauté for another 5 minutes, then add tomatoes or tomato paste, beets, sugar and 100 ml boiling water and simmer for another 5 minutes. Pour in 2 liters of boiling water and cook the soup until the end of the program.
• At the end of the program, press the "MENU" button, select the "SOUP" mode (the default cooking time is 1 hour), press the "COOKING TIME" button , then use the + and - buttons to set the cooking time to 40 minutes. Click the START button.
• Add julienned cabbage to the soup and close the lid. After 20 minutes, add the sliced ​​potatoes and cook the soup, covered, until the end of the program.
• At the end of the program, turn off the multicooker, carefully open the lid and add a tablespoon of salt, bay leaf, pepper, chopped garlic and lemon juice (or vinegar) to the borscht. Leave to infuse with the lid closed for another 10 minutes to absorb the aromas.
Tips
• When frying vegetables, the vegetable oil can be partially replaced with butter in a 1: 1 ratio.
• Beef broth can be replaced with chicken broth, and for a lean menu, broth must be replaced with water.)
• Recommended to serve with sour cream, and for flavor, chop chopped herbs and garlic.
• Borodino bread is traditionally served with borscht, which can be easily baked with a Philips bread maker.
• Use the Philips Multi-slicer or hand blender with special attachments to cut and shred vegetables.
